Why you can trust our health content
Our Mall Pharmacy is a Pharmacy & Poisons Board of Kenya (PPB)–licensed pharmacy. Every article in the Health Hub is written, reviewed or approved by a qualified pharmacist before it's published.
About Our Mall Pharmacy →Pharmacist-authored
Articles are drafted by our in-house pharmacists, drawing on clinical practice at Our Mall, Kikuyu and countrywide counselling sessions.
Medically reviewed
Every piece goes through a pharmacist peer review for accuracy, drug-safety information and alignment with Kenyan MoH / WHO guidance.
Kenya-specific context
We tailor guidance to Kenya: tropical climate, locally available foods, KEPI schedule, MOH programmes and PPB-registered medicines.
Updated and dated
Each article shows a publish date and is refreshed when guidelines change. Older pieces are audited or retired — never left to drift.
Not a substitute for care
Content is educational. For a diagnosis, prescription or urgent concern, talk to a pharmacist or doctor — our WhatsApp line is staffed during business hours.
Sources
We cite WHO, Kenya Ministry of Health, KEMRI, PPB guidance and peer-reviewed literature in every article where evidence matters.
Frequently Asked
Your questions about health content, answered
Is the information on the Health Hub medical advice?
No — our Health Hub articles are educational guidance from licensed pharmacists, not a substitute for consultation, diagnosis or prescription. For symptoms that worry you, talk to a pharmacist (we offer free WhatsApp counselling) or see a doctor.
Who writes and reviews Our Mall Pharmacy's health articles?
Articles are authored or reviewed by pharmacists registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya (PPB). Author and review credentials are shown on every article so you know who stands behind the guidance.
When should I talk to a pharmacist vs a doctor in Kenya?
A pharmacist can advise on over-the-counter medicines, minor ailments, drug interactions, side effects, supplement choice and adherence. See a doctor for a new diagnosis, chronic disease management, red-flag symptoms (chest pain, severe bleeding, fainting, persistent fever) or any prescription-only treatment.
Do you cover conditions common in Kenya and East Africa?
Yes — our articles focus on what pharmacists in Kenya are asked about most: hypertension, diabetes, respiratory infections, malaria, typhoid, paediatric immunisation under KEPI, maternal nutrition, menopause, HIV adherence and chronic pain. Where advice differs by climate or local context, we call that out.
Are the medicines mentioned in articles available in Kenya?
We only recommend products registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya and stocked by licensed pharmacies. If we name a brand, we also list the generic name so you can ask for an equivalent.
How often is content updated?
Articles show a publish date. We revisit clinical content at least annually and immediately when guidance changes (for example, an update from the Kenya Ministry of Health, WHO or PPB). Outdated content is either refreshed or retired.
Can't find what you need?
Talk to a licensed pharmacist directly on WhatsApp. We respond during Mon–Sat 9am–8pm and Sun 10:30am–6pm (EAT).
